Holistic design catching on
An idea some people have been peddling for a little while, including most of us who run the Cre8site Forums is what we call Holistic Design.
I’ve ranted about Holistic’s before, so I’ll just say now, that its to do with thinking of the whole web package. Not concentrating on one aspect too much.
With that in mind, its great to see the likes of Jeffrey Zeldman and Dave Shea putting the general idea out to their large audiences.
A great resource along those lines has just been put up at Max Design. A web standards checklist looks a useful set of points for people to look over when designing.
There are some other things I’d suggest, in Accessibility they mention about the site working if CSS Images are turned off, you’d also want to add JavaScript to that list. There are some other minor points I could mention, but I don’t want to detract from what is a pretty decent resource.
