Gates in competition praise scandal

With the PC you can buy from many companies so you get cheaper prices, you get more variety and here with music devices we’re coming in with the same.

That was Bill’s comments in respect to the greatness of the iPod

Now, isn’t that an irony. Complaining about the iPod and iTunes compatability issues, when he’s been pushing Windows Media Player with it’s own WMA format. When a lot of his companies online content only works properly in IE, or has only recently been made to work in other browsers better. (As good as Small Business Server 2003 is, in order to use all the funky remote access tools, you have to use IE still)

So here we have an article where Bill is praising the competiton in the PC sector. But is that not in spite of Microsoft, rather than because of? That’s not an MS/Apple issue, that’s just because PC’s as a whole are more popular (admittedly partly because of MS’s earlier days) and so there’s a lot more development investment there!
