Wordpress 1.5 ‘pages’
after installing Wordpress 1.5 from scracth and building the site back up again, I’ve been getting a better look at this ‘pages’ CMS functionality.
You can see the results over on the right. It’s a nice little thing, but can’t help feeling it needs some refinement.
First off, categories like with blog postings would be great. In the same way I write blog postings on various subjects, I also write other pages/tutorials on different, discreet subjects.
It may not need to be the same category system as the blogs, a seperate category setup for pages and blogs might be needed, not sure about that yet.
The way the list is setup could do with a bit of work too. It may be I can do soemthing about it by editing the tags, but I don’t think it’s that straight forward. I’d prefer the index page to just list the top level pages, then when someone click on a page with sub pages, they then show up.
The bit I can deffinately sort a bit, is the readability of the list. It’s all a bit small and squashed. All right for a fairly simple, smaller list of links, but it seems that once you’ve got a fair few there it gets a bit hard to distinguish them from each other.
I think adding some padding to those list items and perhaps a changing a bit more of the lsit styling might help. Have too see though.
I like the idea, a blog and more traditional CMS in one. Because there are times when I write something that would be better as a properly linked page, rather than a blog post which slowly disapears into the past. Just needs a bit more integration I think ![]()
