CSS Reboot - 2005

Now I’ve been quite pleased with the latest tweaks to this place, think it looks a lot better than it has done in the past. But this morning I’ve been looking at the CSS Reboot 2005 gallery and wow do I look pretty tame! Not that I’ve ever professed to be a ‘designer’ :P

There are some really cool and slick looking designs in that gallery though. There’s a couple hundred there, so I’ve not clicked through to every site, the thumbnails for a lot of them are really nice. Some seem to ahve iffy splash screens, which is a shame, while some like Scott McDaniel and Lisa McMillan (I love the way the links are done with the ‘highlighter’ or the tick boxes) just look really impressive.

Made all the better by the fact they’re all done with CSS!
No idea if they’ve all gone the full hog and ditched tables to go for semantic markup styled with all CSS, or if there are various hybrids there, I’m guessing the latter. Still, great stuff, one to bookmark for future inspiration I think! (though not to copy, like a couple of those redesigns seem to have virutally done, a very iffy site looking much like simplebits, and with a very similar name I might add, made all the more ironic by the tag line “Visibly different design”, uh huh…)
