Why should Flickr pay you to use their service?

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

There seem to be a few people suggesting that Flickr (and presumably other sites along the same lines) should pay people who ‘add content’ to their site, which then helps them make money via the ads displayed….
I think that is WHOLLY missguided and forgetting what going on.

“Web 2.0″, why?

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

I hope I’m not the only one, but I really don’t get this whole “Web 2.0″ thing and why everyones going crazy over it.
Wow, so someone realised that having tools is one thing, but having tools that work easily, and work well is another thing, and suddenly having a more efficient tool means the web [...]

The nature of blogs

Tuesday, October 18th, 2005

No one seems quite able to closely define what a blog is. They know when they see one, but I’ve not seen a good definition yet.
Some people say blogs have to have comments and RSS for example, but you can have that with normal articles. Several people have moaned about the various ‘top [...]

Matt Cutts - Good taste in themes!

Friday, August 12th, 2005

News that most interested parties already know about, Matt Cutts from Google is blogging. I’m sure he’ll last longer than Mark Jen did….
But anyway, that’s not really news still, and what I’ve got to say isn’t really news either. It’s jsut that I went over the blog to grab the feed for blogline, [...]

UK EduBlogger Directoy

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

I follow a few education related blogs, one of which is EdTechUK by Josie Fraser.
A couple of days ago Josie said she was building up a list of UK based EduBloggers and asked if anyone had some wiki space going spare. It just so happens I have, and it was sat there [...]

Earth to bloggers, Earth calling bloggers

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

One thing that does piss me off a bit abot the whole blogosphere thing, is how many bloggers seem to think EVERYONE knows about blogs and reads them. When in reality it’s got a LONG way to go before blogging becomes as well known as email or the Internet as a whole.

Wine + Marketing + Blogs

Thursday, July 28th, 2005

OK, so I got one of Hugh’s Stormhoek wine samples as part of his blogger’s wine freebie. What can I say, I’m a sucker for free booze
I want to say something about the marketing exercise generally, but I guess I should mention the wine first if I’m going to talk about it [...]

Write a virus, get a slap on the wrists…..

Monday, July 11th, 2005

Well, that’s about all that happened to Sven Jaschan, the guy behind the Sasser and Netsky viruses.
Despite the proliferance of the worms, and amount of time and money it cost a lot of people, he’s been given an 21 month suspended jail sentence and 30hrs of community service.
Wow, I bet he regrets doing that [...]

I agree…

…Dell Sucks
I had so many problems with them over a server I bought last year, that I truely never want to deal with them again, and I always advise people not to buy from them. The response I got was along the lines of “screw you”, but obviously in much more polite terms. [...]

Why should I market your product?

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

Interesting post over at GapingVoid about making your product something that people want to talk about.
I enjoy reading Hugh’s blog, often entertaining, if a little eccentric, but this is one spot on post. Talking about viral marketing if you ask me.
What do you have to do, to get people, those you are trying to [...]
