Giant edubloggers meet up
None schedule
Previous meetings
An edubloggers meetup was held at Alt-C 2006∞, which took place 5th - 7th September 2006 in beautiful Edinburgh, Scotland.
The conference theme was 'Next Generation' and the streams are particularly well suited to proposals on social software and web 2.0 techs, including, of course, edublogging.

Saturday October 8th Birmingham (what year?)
Hot on the heels of the last meetup. Why so soon? Because James Farmer∞, Melbourne Australia-based edublog kingpin and social entrepreneur will be in town!
This will be another great opportunity to meet up with other people blogging and researching blogs in education, talk about the call and the format for the up-coming edublogcon 1, share gossip and drink beer.
At the moment we are planning on two meetup points & times - so if you can't stay out too late, you can still come and visit Birmingham - Britain’s second largest city, home to more canals than Venice, and shoppers paradise.
Any suggestions for meetup venues?
Afternoon/Lunch meetup:
1pm at the cafe at the Ikon Gallery∞

-If you'd like a good old fashioned crawl throug the balti triangle then I'd recommend Moseley - oh, and that's where I'll be staying too :D -JF
Evening:
8pm at Ipanema∞, Broad Street? Is this a really bad idea? I'm suggesting it cos it's central & easy to find. Map∞.
-Am certainly up for the CBD though if others fancy - JF
What's CBD??? - the other JF ;-)
Central Business District... i.e. city centre... which definitely sounds better :o) - JNF ;)
You've been down under for too long!
Activities?
-Um, drinking, eating... I s'pose wireless would be a plus or would that be too geeky?
It'll be a longish day so we'll at least want to check email at some point! Either a hotel lobby or a cafe?
There's a good exhibition on at the Drum∞: Burning Images∞, marking the 20th anniversary of the Handsworth riots. Map∞. Is it too far out of town?
Hotels?
lastminute.com has doubles/twin rooms at the centrally located Copthorne Hotel for only £55
City Inn∞ looks both swish and reasonable

The first meeting point is for Alt-C attendees: 7pm at the Taste of the Orient Dinner in the Barnes Wallis Restaurant on Sackville Street. There's wireless network access for anyone who want to live blog.
Then we'll be meeting in the Lass O'Gowrie (non-conference attendees welcome), a traditional English pub with real ale for those who like that kind of thing on Charles Street at 8.30 pm
